Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari

Aung San Suu Kyi’s life under arrest

A fragment of contemporary history told by a choir of child-narrators. A film on the life of Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the movement for democracy in Burma since the late ‘80s, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, and at the head of a free country today. An evocative narration that sets off in a mysterious storage room full of theatre costumes: a child wanders in and, from there, she guides us to the Far East, where the political events intertwine with music and bright colors. Ermanna Montanari’s intense performance in the role of Aung San Suu Kyi shares the stage with marionette-like portraits of general-dictators, evil Nat spirits, journalists and UN INVIATI rebel comedians imprisoned for their jokes against the regime. The film screening will be followed by a talk with Martinelli and Montanari.
