Gore Vidal Gore Vidal (1925) is one of America’s most authoritative speakers on the cultural scene. Forthright in nature, he has always acted as a spokesman for civil rights and minority groups. Novelist and non-fiction writer, he has also written a number of plays and works for the cinema. In 1993 he won the National Book Award. Some thirty novels and essays have been translated into Italian, including: Impero e Giuliano (2002); Il canarino e la miniera. Saggi letterari (2003); Democrazia tradita.
