Event #21

Giuseppe Cederna

On the other side of the sea

Da questa parte del mare – On this side of the sea is the name of a concept album on modern migration composed ten years ago by Gianmaria Testa, which was turned into a small and precious book written by the great songwriter the year before his death, this past March.  The pages of the book (Einaudi, 2009) will be voiced by Giuseppe Cederna, an actor and also a writer and a companion to Gianmaria through many adventures, bringing his words to life in front of the audience of Festival della Mente. Cederna reads from the book and tells its story, finding links, connections and improvising parentheses; while the voice of Gianmaria Testa will resound in all its depth, guiding us to rediscover the wonder of listening with our eyes closed, without the distraction of sight. A heartbreaking journey across songs and stories, on the migration of humans and on the the roots and meaning of “humanity”.
