Ascanio Celestini - What I can remember about my shows

listen to the audio file

The thread that runs through the poetics, shows and creative cooking of one of the Italian theatre’s most unpredictable characters: “My name is Ascanio son / of Gaetano and Piera. My father mended furniture / My mother was a hairdresser / and went ballroom dancing. / My paternal grandfather pushed a cart at Trastevere. / after the accident he was severely disabled / and he went to work at the Iris cinema. / His wife came from the north of Italy and made her shoes from old gloves. / My maternal grandfather was a woodcutter with Primo Carnera. / My maternal grandmother was born in Anguillara Sabazia. / Her sister removed spells / and she told stories of witches.”
