By magic, a meadow turns into the sea with an archipelago to explore; there are small, bright islands where one can hear the sound of waves. Each island has something to experience, with eyes and heart wide open in wonder. Children will be the protagonists of this installation and they will become sailors who will observe, listen, tell dreams, discover, or invent new worlds.

How wonderful it is to observe things up close! How many small worlds can be discovered by changing point of view? How enchanted can we get before light on a sunny day? Using microscopes and magnifying glasses, we will observe materials and colour very closely, and build sculptures playing with light.

Water is the most widely used substance in the world, but are you sure you really know it? The best way to find it out is to experiment with it! Archimedes knew this very well. By playing with water, he made discoveries that still leave us gaping. With our hands soaking, we will have fun and put some of this great inventor's experiments into practice.

In collaboration with the CAI of Sarzana, a tour of about three hours to talk about the liberating fatigue of walking and imagination, the rustle of literature and the wonder of popular art that has left here small Madonnas (the so-called Majesties) engraved in marble or painted inside the shells of chapels. Wonder inside: stories of art and beauty from Italian prisons

Prisons separate convicts from the rest of the society which only sees walls and does not know how life is inside. Only a few people can enter prisons, often through complex procedures and bureaucratic delays. Prisons do not seem a place for wonder. Yet, there are people who have been committed for years to bringing art and culture into penal institutions, who tell about the lives of the people inside, who work there and try to ensure that all prisoners are given the chance of rehabilitation. Art, culture and innovation are the sparks spreading wonder in prisons, and from prisons they bring it back to us. Duration of the event: 2 hours.

	The age of wonder

The demographic data show it clearly: we live longer and healthier; our country has a very low birth rate and the elderly are always more numerous. But how has the perception of ageing changed over time and why is the threshold of entering the old age moving further and further forward? What are the biological, evolutionary, historical and cultural reasons for this change? And how do we adjust our habits – physical, emotional, relational – so that we can accept the inevitable and mysterious transformations due to the passage of time? With philosopher Gabriella Caramore and immunologist Antonella Viola, this dialogue can help us discover how much wonder there can be in every age.

	Wunderkit: five objects for creativity

People surround themselves with objects. Sometimes they are mysterious objects, found in the street, or autobiographical objects, taken from the toolbox. They can be talismans, totally useless yet beautiful objects, objects smelling new or antique objects. They all trigger memories, stories and inspirations. In this special interview for Wunderkit the illustrator Carlo Stanga talks about himself and his personal kit of wonders: Munari trees, a design light bulb to motivate play, a Pythagorean glass, notebooks and keys that create bridges between surprise and unexplored territories.

Five objects in dialogue between wonder and creativity, work and passion, play and measure.

Generative AI and the Wonder of Human Intelligence

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to progress rapidly, concerns about the potential for generative AI systems to outsmart humans have emerged. This dialogue brings together insights from Gerd Gigerenzer's cognitive psychology and heuristics research, along with critical perspectives from Veronica Barassi in the anthropology of artificial intelligence. The discussion reflects on the limitations of AI, the unique human traits, and the significance of adaptable, creative, and innovative thinking in highly uncertain environments. By exploring the interplay between AI and human cognition, this dialogue sheds light on the importance of human qualities in navigating complex and unpredictable worlds impacted by advancing AI technologies.
Wonderfully. Learning wonder from literature

The appearance of Nausicaa in the Odyssey, the healing of the blind man of Bethsaida in the Gospel of Mark, the coexistence of reality and legend in The Lord of the Rings are some of the episodes that show the essential role played by wonder in the history of literature. Following the plot of these and other stories, the writer Alessandro Zaccuri invites us to reconsider the experience of reading as a way to learn the meaning of wonder, and to recognise the other, the unknown, the unexpected that always visits our existences.

Discovering our mind through the wonders of our body

Neuroscience is going through a revolution which implies strong clinical, social and personal consequences. The rediscovery of the influence that the body organs have on the brain leads us to an integral vision of psychology. Nazareth Castellanos takes the audience on a journey through the body to discover its amazing impact on neurons. Important elements such as memory, attention, mood or emotions also depend on body posture and facial gestures, the gut microbiota and stomach, as well as the complex heartbeat pattern and the way we breathe. The most innovative and rigorous scientific evidence intertwines with the history of Eastern medicine and with Western literature, philosophy and poetry. Combined together, they contribute to create a new humanistic science.
