Gore Vidal Gore Vidal (1925) is one of America’s most authoritative speakers on the cultural scene. Forthright in nature, he has always acted as a spokesman for civil rights and minority groups. Novelist and non-fiction writer, he has also written a number of plays and works for the cinema. In 1993 he won the National Book Award.
