Adelina von Fürstenberg

Adelina von Fürstenberg, while studying Political Science founded and ran the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva where major contemporary artists have held exhibitions. In 1993 she was awarded a prize at the 45th Venice Biennale for her work at the Magasin Centre National d’Art Contemporain in Grenoble and for her school for curators. In 1995 she founded ART for The World, an ONG associated with UNDPI that fosters human rights through art and organises exhibitions and events all over the world with artists from different backgrounds. The ideals on which its mission is based are tolerance, diversity, health, children’s rights and more. In 2005, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Conference of Beijing on Women, she curated the exhibition Donna, Donne at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and, recently, Balcan Epic by Marina Abramovic at the Hangar Bicocca, Milan.
