Mariangela Gualtieri was born in Cesena, in the Romagna region. She graduated in architecture from the IUAV in Venice. In 1983, together with the director Cesare Ronconi, she founded the Teatro Valdoca, of which she is dramaturge. From the very beginning of her career, she has taken care of the oral performance of poetry, devoting full attention to the apparatus of voice amplification and to the association between poetic verse and live music. Her published texts include: Antenata (Crocetti, 1992 and 2020), Bestia di gioia (Einaudi, 2010), Caino (Einaudi, 2011), Le giovani parole (Einaudi, 2015), Voci di tenebra azzurra (Stampa 2009, 2016), Beast of Joy. Selected poems (Chelsea Editions, New York, 2018), coauthor of Album dei Giuramenti e Tavole dei Giuramenti by Teatro Valdoca (Quodlibet, 2019), Quando non morivo (Einaudi, 2019), Paesaggio con fratello rotto (Einaudi, 2021), L'incanto fonico. L'arte di dire la poesia (Einaudi, 2022).
