Mimmo Cuticchio
Mimmo Cuticchio is a trobadour, actor and theatrical director. A direct heir and attentive exegete of the tradition of the Opera dei Pupi, born in Palermo, he continues the work started by his father Giacomo, who opened his first pupi theatre in Palermo in 1933. Mimmo Cuticchio began his activity as a puparo in the 70s with his travelling performances. In 1977 he created the Association Figli d’Arte Cuticchio which, along with his work as a scholar of the ancient art of the cunto, gave way to a path of reinvention of this tradition that would lead to its recognition as part of the Global Heritage, awarded by Unesco. He is the author of Alle armi, cavalieri! (Donzelli, 2017).
