The gratitude of places
Air, water, earth, and fire are central to all cosmogonies, especially those of Sicily: from Empedocles and his sandal to Mount Etna. On this island of volcanic landscapes and eruptive activity, there is a constant interplay between earth, wind and sea and fire. Among all the elements, fire would seem the one least likely to be associated with gratitude because its destructive nature prevails over its transformative one.
However, fire, through burning, can also create and bring forth new life. The words of Nadia Terranova and Giuseppe Barbera will weave together with the evocative, live drawings by Michele Tranquillini, as a reflection on the relationship between humans and nature, the places that surround us, and the endless memories, dreams, and emotions that can emerge from this
