And instead, you shine
Sound ritual by and featuring Mariangela Gualtieri
guided by Cesare Ronconi
"I will be revisiting my most recent verses, organising them into chapters of gratitude: children, flowers, the sea, the forest, the sky, love between humans, silence, and other wonders that exist above or below our war-torn world. They are intertwined with the horror we so often inhabit or name, yet often we fail to see what continues to sustain and celebrate life. To fulfill the exhortation of the title – taken from one of the works of the Italian writer Pasolini – I believe we need to be aware of the wonder around us, which, despite us, continues its mysterious, collective concert: those with eyes, those with wings, those with roots and leaves, those within the seas, and so on. Let a daily spirit of gratitude be born within us." – Mariangela Gualtieri
curated and managed by Lorella Barlaam

with support from the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Cesena
Mariangela Gualtieri graduated in architecture from IUAV in Venice. In 1983, she co-founded Teatro Valdoca with director Cesare Ronconi, where she serves as a playwright. From the beginning, she has been dedicated to the oral delivery of poetry, with a strong focus on voice amplification and the fusion of poetic verse with live music. Her published works include: "Antenata" (Crocetti, 1992 and 2020), "Le giovani parole" (Einaudi, 2015), "Voci di tenebra azzurra" (Stampa 2009, 2016), "Beast of Joy: Selected Poems" (Chelsea Editions, New York, 2018), "Album dei Giuramenti e Tavole dei Giuramenti di Teatro Valdoca" (with L. Barlaam, Quodlibet, 2019), "Quando non morivo" (Einaudi, 2019), "Paesaggio con fratello rotto" (Einaudi, 2021), "L’incanto fonico. L’arte di dire la poesia" (Einaudi, 2022), "Bello mondo" (Einaudi ET Poesia, 2024), and "Ruvido umano" (Einaudi, 2024).
