2019 Programme
Event #23
Cesare Picco, Alessio Bertallot
Piano vs Groove
The story of the groove through the piano strings. Two explorers of sound, Cesare Picco and Alessio Bertallot, meet on stage for a special journey through the iconic pieces of the dj culture and to create a special encounter with the evocative power of the piano. The show ranges through fifty years of groove culture, passing through those iconic and famous songs known to the public. What is created is a new kaleidoscopic world of sounds, made alive and pulsating by the composition and improvisation in real time of the piano.
Cesare Picco is a pianist, improviser, and composer, known for his cross-disciplinary experimentation across musical genres. Since 1986, he has performed at major festivals and theatres around the world, including the Hanoi Opera House, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Delhi Jazz Festival, Tokyo Jazz Festival, Abu Dhabi Festival, and Umbria Jazz. He has collaborated with musicians from around the globe, including Naseer Shamma, Giovanni Sollima, Hajime Mizoguchi, and Taketo Gohara, as well as in theatre with figures such as Alessandro Baricco, Fabrizio Gifuni, and Gioele Dix. In 2009, he conceived BLIND DATE – Concert in the Dark, a unique performance in which both artist and audience are immersed in total darkness. He has written about music for il Post, and in 2019 published the novel Sebastian (Rizzoli), inspired by the life of J. S. Bach.
Alessio Bertallot is a musician, dj, author, producer and presenter of radio and television programs, including B Side on Radio Deejay, RaiTunes on Radio2 and Casa Bertallot, one of the first online radio projects, made at his home (www.bertallot.com).
