Generational Crisis, Male Crisis, Italian Crisis
The main theme of the twentieth century is no longer the relationship between the sexes but the one between generations. It is impossible to offer one’s children the model of alternation: more changes occur in a generation than used to occur in a century. New generations have always been offered guiding images. Things change with virtual reality. From childhood images spread through the psyche already packaged: from screens, and soon from Google glasses. With the disappearance of the father’s strong expressions, only to some extent is a space created for more feminine values. Many sensitive young men don’t make it, and they end up swelling the ranks of the outsiders. A Neo-conservative change is underway throughout Europe; in Italy it was preceded by two decades that have weakened feminist positions, and strengthened an unexpected Neo-male chauvinism.
