Event #5
Emanuela Grimalda
Le difettose (The Flawed)
A performance, a recital, premiering at the Festival of the Mind, which arises from the meeting that took place between a novel – Le difettose, published by Einuadi in 2012 – and three women: the author of the book, Eleonora Mazzoni; the director, Serena Sinigaglia; the actress, Emanuela Grimalda. A strong theme – that of sterility and the In vitro fertilization (IVF) programme – the object of so many prejudices and taboos, told in an amusing and bittersweet way, the purpose being to open a window on the multifarious and mysterious world of many “flawed women”, rich with stories that are both happy and desperate, subterranean and full of life. On the stage Emanuela Grimalda, a versatile, original artist, will offer a body and a voice to this quest for a child sought with crystalline obstinacy, and that will lead us to the most unfathomable parts of the human body, those devoted to conception and birth, which we can also call fate, destiny, karma. Or fortune, as the ancients referred to it.
a native of Trieste, graduated from the Scuola di Teatro in Bologna and moved to Rome where she alternates theatre, cinema, television. A versatile actress, she has done prose under the direction of Nanni Garella, research theatre with Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, contemporary theatre (Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues). She is the author and interpreter of comic performances. She has worked with many directors in cinema, like Antonio Albanese, Vincenzo Salemme, Marco Risi, Carlo Mazzacurati, Sergio Castellitto, Giovanni Veronesi.
