A private matter

What are the ideas and the visions that still influence and guide Max Sirena, the man who is entrusted with Luna Rossa project in the America's Cup? The Italian journalist Michele Lupi talks about it with him.

Luna Rossa

Max Sirena, Skipper & Team Director, is at his seventh America’s Cup challenge, two of which were winning campaigns. The first win was in the 33rd America’s Cup edition where he was in charge of the mast wing project with BMW Oracle Racing. His second victory was in the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017 with Emirates Team New Zealand. With team Luna Rossa he has participated in the challenges of 2000, winning the Louis Vuitton Cup, 2003 and 2007 in the role of mid-bowman. He took on the role of Skipper and Team Director for Luna Rossa during the 34th America’s Cup campaign held in San Francisco in 2013. Always in the role of Skipper and Team Director, he led team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in its challenge for the 36th America’s Cup that took place in Auckland in 2021.

Michele Lupi directs the magazines Icon, Flair and the new Icon Design. In 2003 he founded the Italian edition of Rolling Stone. He was the director of GQ Italia from 2006 to 2011, then directed RS for three more years. He published the book Racers (Feltrinelli) in 2003.
