2018 Program
Event #4
Olivia Sellerio
Olivia Sellerio sings Montalbano
The singer-songwriter from Palermo plays the songs written and performed for “Il commissario Montalbano” – the popular series about a commissioner in Sicily – such as Lu jornu ca cantavanu li manu, Malamuri, Ciuri di strata, that made us fall in love with her ability to transform stories and feelings into music, bathed in Mediterranean atmospheres, Atlantic sounds, African dust and American folk. The guitars of Giancarlo Bianchetti and Lino Costa, Nicola Negrini’s double bass and Paolo Pellegrino’s cello, join in a fortunate mix of strings and arches that will complement Olivia’s voice, full of echoes that combine stories with the Sicilian melos and with a thousand roots of different worlds, creating a link from Sicily to the rest of the world.
Olivia Sellerio, is a singer-songwriter who has devoted her life to books and music, growing up with a love for stories and the pleasure of sharing them. Her work is a mosaic that connects interpretations coming from her jazz background with Mediterranean and African, Latin-American and Neo-Latin tunes in an authentic arrangement, a pursuit and synthesis that holds language and lyrics at great importance, from the international successes of Accabbanna, 2005 with Pietro Leveratto, to her songs for Il commissario Montalbano.
