Immigration: changing everything
For decades, immigration has been a structural phenomenon, though it has always been dealt with in terms of an emergency. Its characteristics, however, require a complex solution that does not underestimate the spreading discomfort in public opinion, connecting the causes of migration in native countries with the effects they have in countries of arrival. All of the issues that accompany current migrations need to be considered critically, tackling the hardest ones (from irregular traffic to increasing xenophobia, as well as border control, procedures for hosting and the issue of rejections) beyond ideological contrapositions, and with the courage to propose radical actions and practicable solutions. Because migrations exist, they are increasing, and will continue to do so even more in the future.
